Ghost: Washington State’s First Deaf Drug Dog!

via Facebook/Washington State DSHS

The deaf can do anything, including assist law enforcement! Little Ghost was found at just 3 months old with a lot of energy in Florida, and was scheduled to be euthanized after being labelled as “unadoptable”. Lucky for us the Swamp Haven Humane Society searched high and low all over the country until they found a place willing to give him a chance: Olympic Peninsula Humane Society in Port Angeles, WA. It was there that Ghost met Barb Davenport- she recognized his intense focus and pushed to have him trained.

Ghost is now 2 1/2 years old and lives with his new handler, Joe Henderson, where he is finishing his training to find narcotics and other illegal substances for the Washington DOC. He’s even had his first bust after finding illegal substances at Washington’s Department of Social and Health Services’ secure facilities.

Way to go, Ghost! We hope you get lots of pets and treats for all your hard work! 🙂
